D.I.Y Turban Twist

Besides the embossed "Mercedes" logo is rather eye catching, I believe antique, aged, rusty would come into your perception on this sewing machine at first sight. Well, what I can tell you is that the value of this ageing sewing machine is infinite and intangible.

From its outlook, are you able to guess how old is this Mercedes brand sewing machine?

The sewing machine has been accompanying my mum for more than 40 years throughout her life as a seamstress. It was a gift from my grandpa to my mum when she embarked on tailor path at the age of 16. It means so much to my mum. This is the most precious thing that she had in her life; something more valuable than diamond.

Guess what, it is so honourable to get featured in a music video -- 曾国珲【情流感】.

After going through so many years, surprisingly, it is still well functioning. I really pay my respect to those former engineers who had invented such durable sewing machine during the era of technology scarcity. Thumbs up for their intelligence! I'll try my level best to extent its life span as long as possible under good care and I hope the sewing machine could propagate to next generation.

Even though I'm not as skillful as my mum, but I think I'm born with talent. Haha. :) Simple sewing is not a big problem for me. This time, I'm going to show you how to do a Turban Twist by yourself. No cost incurred and easy making!

-- Go Green Concept --
Turn old clothes into fashionable hair accessory -- Turban Twist!
Let's get started...

1. Get an old, worn out clothes. Cut 2 long striped pieces with length : 40 cm & width : 10 cm (length & width are up to your preference).

2. For each striped piece, fold the edge of the striped piece and sew vertically along the side seam.

3. After the side seam is done, arrange 2 striped pieces it into "X" as shown below photo.

4. Fold both striped clothes in opposite way to form like "2 hooks joint together". Then, adjust the striped clothes to ensure both raw edges connect together symmetrically.

5. Hold both raw edges together by hand. Decide the tightness of the headband by wrapping it around your head. Jot down the area to be stitched with chalk marker.

6. Place all the raw edges together and sew a straight seam. Cut off the extra clothes.

7. Wear the headband by rotating the joining seam inwards. Now, you are ready to swag with this awesome TURBAN TWIST! So cool, no? Teehee...

It's as easy as ABC, right?

Let's give it a try.

Stay tune for next DIY lesson!

JLPT N5 日本語能力試験

Well, this was my first official exam since after started my working life 2 and half year ago. Talking about exam, I still can remember vividly how torturing it was during my uni exams and assignments. I easily went nuts over the super thick textbook and notes with all the bloody theories, applications, justifications, examples....etc! D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R. In spite of excessive exams and assignments, one thing cannot be denied is, student life is the best though, ever and forever!

I recall that 10 years ago, when I was 15-year-old, Japanese pop fever (J-pop) had hit Malaysia. My mum, my brother and I deeply fell in love with J-pop. 10 years ago, we used to stay in front of TV before dot com boom burst. The first Japanese drama which broadcasted on TV2 was 'Beautiful Life'《美丽人生》, starring by Kimura Takuya (木村拓哉). As of now, Kimura Takuya is still our top 1 favourite Japanese actor.

I have great intention to learn Japanese language all the while but due to heavy study load during my uni life, my plan is always been procrastinating. Until I started working with Panasonic, it was so cool that Japanese Language Corporate Training is provided to employees......for free!

Frankly speaking, learning Japanese isn't hard. We (Chinese) have the advantage as there are similarity between Japanese kanji and Chinese character. I truly enjoy learning Japanese language because my teacher (from Japan) is just too cute! The way my Japanese teacher conducts the class is really interesting and fun. This is the reason which makes me stay motivated to attend the class despite being very tired after working hour.

We have drawing class during Japanese class too! Cute? Spot the naughty Shin chan!
- Lesson : Position of an object -
The is the way my Japanese teacher marks the test paper. So unique, isn't it?

After 2 years of Japanese learning, it is the time to get examined to find out the proficiency level of my Japanese Language. Thus, I applied for Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 5 (JLPT N5, basic level) which costs me RM80.00. For more information about JLPT, please visit The Japanese Language Society of Malaysia.

The feeling towards this exam is totally different from previous. This time, I feel more relax and enjoyable throughout the revision process. Perhaps, with the help of my passion in learning Japanese language, my revision was just going on incredible smooth and fast.

My seating for JLPT N5 was arranged in this spacious and air-conditioned classroom, 10th floor.
Such a beautiful view from 10th floor of Confusion Private Secondary school. This photo was taken during the interval break for 2nd test section.

The result was released on 29-Aug-2013. I feel grateful that I've passed the exam. From the score report, I can see my listening section is rather poor. I need to put more effort in order to brush up my listening skill.

I promise to myself that I will study harder and get better result for next level of JLPT. *fingers crossed*

Aww...so adorable, isn't it? Looking at the leopard tails, it reminds me of Pink Panther! I'm extremely in love with the leopard tails. And, animal print lover like me would never let go such cute animal print stuff, right? Seriously, this is a-must-get-pair-of-shoe to sparkle my shoe cabinet.

I've been waiting eagerly for the arrival of this incredible leopard shoe for a week as it is pre-order. Initially, I was actually a little worried on the comfortability of the shoe as I could not feel the actual product upon my purchase. Fortunately, this baby leopard shoe is up to my expectation. When I get the shoe on, I feel cushioned and it is comfortable. I'm satisfied. Animal print lovers out there, it is definitely worth for collection as well. I just could not resist the cute leopard tails!

It's time to get out from conventional way of running, run with fabulous baby leopard now!

LC's First TV Appearance《女王100 FUN》

It is freshly stored in my memory, still.

31-Mar-2013, Sunday

It was a dull Sunday evening, as usual, I was doing my routine FB checking. Then, something in FB's news feed caught my attention. It is a post about a live game show called Pretty Fun, in Chinese, 《女王100 FUN》which organised by 8TV《八度空间》. The words, courage (胆量), creative (创意), confidence (信心) and challenge(挑战) stimulate my audacity to join the contest. Looking at the closing date, I was so lucky. The day I came across this post was literally the last day for registration! Without much hesitation, I sent my profile to 8TV.

Few days later, I received a call from 8TV saying that I was shortlisted and required to go for next audition at One Utama Shopping Mall. I was once thinking to give up during the audition day as I saw a lot of young, pretty and energetic girls which actually diminished my confidence. Anyhow, I was greatly rejoiced that I did not chicken out of this audition eventually. Thanks God for giving me such good fortune. I succeeded in the audition and moved on to game show shooting. :)

The audition was held at One Utama Shopping Mall on 11-Apr-2013, Thursday
- Lucky Number 7! -

I received another call from 8TV few weeks later to confirm the shooting date. I was told that the theme for my game show is "Mount Hiking" (登山记) and the shooting will be started  2 days later. I was like.... OMG?! 2 days later? Seriously, I had no time to shop for the attire due to short notice. My mind was totally blank when I looked at my wardrobe. Without further ado, I simply grabbed a short sleeve white hoodie, a purple singlet, a black elastic skinny and a pair of leopard running shoe. Okay, all set for shooting!

The game show shooting was taken on 30-May-2013, Thursday
- In front of 8TV, Bandar Utama -
I was hoping that leopard running shoe will give me more power and energy to run faster!
- I'm wearing Leopard Shoe from Love iStore -

We were so lucky to have indoor shooting! As far as I know, other groups' game show shooting mostly were done outdoor. Our shooting was taken at MadMonkeyz Climbing Gym, an indoor bouldering gym centre which situated at Jalan Metrowangsa, KL.

This was only preliminary stage. However, the prize is very inviting! The winner will be rewarded RM1000 cash and proceed to semi final. Of course, there is no free lunch in this world. To win RM1000 cash, the participants (4 participants per group) need to go through few challenging tasks in terms of speed, skill, concentration and stamina. The game will be carried out by using elimination method.

The game is begun with self introduction and a short description of how our attire best fit "Mount Hiking" theme. Each of us must try our level best to convince others to vote for you. Guess what, I earned the most votes for this section, surprisingly. The host, Hansen Lee told me that I'll be given privilege for next section of game. Yeah~

From left : Hansen Lee (The Host), Joyyie, Phoen, Kie, Li Cheng (me)

The next challenge is more on speed and skill. We were taught on how to gear up the rock climbing accessories. As I'm the winner for last section, I could start the game 10 seconds in advance. In spite of the 10 seconds privilege granted, I could not win in this section though as I've forgotten what the trainer had taught us just now. Oh yea, this was caused by my nervous tendencies. The competing atmosphere makes me tension to the max! Mission failed. :'(  Kie is winner for this round.

I was given privilege to start gearing up the rock climbing accessories 10 seconds ahead of other participants.

Moved on to the team work part. Four of us were required to complete the mission together within the time frame given. Within 15 minutes, we need to dismantle the selected climbing rocks from the ceiling, wash the climbing rocks up to the satisfaction of 8TV producer and then restore the climbing rocks to the ceiling again. We actually managed to restore all the climbing rocks to the ceiling on time, but the bad news is we had restored the climbing rocks to the wrong place which are not in accordance to the original location. Thus, our mission is failed! Even though we failed the mission, in fact we did a very good job. I was impressed with our good team work. Thumbs up!

Ongoing overuse of neck muscles (looking up to the ceiling) caused stiff neck and neck pain.
We were trying hard to remove the stubborn dirt from the climbing rock.
This is team work!
In the progress of restoring the climbing rock to the ceiling.

Here comes the most cruel part of the game. Each of us has to eliminate one of the group members whom you think possessed poorest performance during the team work. Ouch...seriously we do not want anyone to be kicked out. I rather prefer the game is executed by elimination based on competency. Yay, the voting result turned out to be fair whereby each of us gained 1 vote respectively. However, the elimination is still on. It will base on luck this time. The host, Hansen Lee will draw the unlucky person out of this game. Awwww..how cruel is this! Unfortunately, Joyyie is out! :(

The survivors, Kie, Phoen and I defeated the bad fortune and proceed to the next challenge. This game is focused on concentration and balancing. For the first round, 3 of us had the difficulty in getting onto the balancing straps. Our legs were shivered to the max yet we still trying hard to figure out the balancing point. After 1 round, we roughly knew how to balance ourselves on the waving straps. We tip-toed (like a cat) on the balancing straps to minimize the frequency of waving. The final result for this section as follows :

Kie          : 24 seconds
Li Cheng : 17 seconds (Yes, I won in this section!)
Phoen    : Fell down half way

Imagine there are numerous of crocodiles underneath, you will definitely walk on the waving balancing straps quickly but steady.

Ahaaaaaaa.....~

The long awaited final challenge of preliminary stage is finally reached. What is the challenge about? Yes, it is none other than ROCK CLIMBING! Excited!

FINAL CHALLENGE : Li Cheng vs Kie

The one who reaches the game point and get the flag will be the winner! RM1000 cash will belong to her! Whoot!

I was paused at the swing part. I've no idea how to swing and move on to the opposite wall. End up swinging like a monkey. LOL. As I had used up my energy to hold myself up there, my hands started to shiver and slowed down when I swang over to the opposite wall. Then, I saw Kie expedited her action and finally she got the flag!

We were almost the same speed in the beginning.
 Swing like a monkey. LOL.
Finally, Kie got the flag! She is the winner!

This is an awesome and unforgettable experience for me.

Endurance, Persistence and Concentration are the keys to success. Never give up so soon until you've tried your best!

Although I failed to proceed to the next stage, however, I was surprised with my courage to confront with the challenging tasks given. The outcome was exceeded my expectation!

Last but not least, not forgetting my cheerful and friendly group mates for being supportive throughout the game show even though it was our first met.

Special thanks to 8TV production team!

Glad to know all of you :)

A Stable Platform

4W 1H
(What. Where. When. Who. How)

Quickie Update!

Glad to inform you that l'm officially hired since November 2010! I'm working at Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Berhad (PMMA), Shah Alam.

Manufacturing company might seem to be dull and monotonous to most of the people, especially youngster at my age. However, for me, I enjoy the life here. Even though management staffs are required to wear the-very-unfashionable-uniform, I would say it's a brilliant rules! It helps me to save a lot of money on buying formal attire. Yuhoo~ I do not need to scratch my head and worry on what attire to be wore everyday. In addition, wearing uniform is so so comfortable!

Traditionally, as we know, Japanese company is very discipline and strict! Every morning, we'll have a short assembly. It begins with a light exercise for approx 3 mins, then Panasonic song, follow by company philosophy.

I'm so lucky to have nice and friendly colleagues. They fancy my working life. Hope everything goes smooth this year!

Have a glance on my uniform!
Tadaa~

BACK!

Reached Malaysia safe and sound on 1st of October, 9.25pm.

For those who are not frequent visitor of FB, FYI, I traveled around Euro for 19 days before stepping on the ground of my motherland. 6 of us (Janice, Jyy Huey, Jennifer, Aaron, Hong Weng and me) decided not to follow travel package due to rush schedule. We chose to backpacking around Euro. Do everything on our own. Plan travel route, book accommodation, book flight ticket, etc.

Special thanks to Mr. Lee Hong Weng!!! He did almost everything actually. Feel sorry to him. And of course appreciate his hard work very much which made the backpack tour successful.
